drey's thoughts:
Well. Guess retirement's a little too quiet for Gin. And she somehow finds herself adding to her body count totals, and not even remotely reluctantly. Because someone has to take out the trash. Right? Unfortunately, there may be more trash in Ashland than she wants to pick a fight with at the same time. Not that they ever give her a choice.

If you're wondering what's up with Detective Donovan Caine, read this. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, read  Spider's Bite. Then, read this. Gin does a little rescuing, a little cleaning-up, a little threatening, a bit more rescuing, confronts her retirement and then discards it (just this once), gets beaten up, beats up the bad guys, and gets her heart broken. But wait. Is that a light at the end of that tunnel? Engrossing and entertaining, Web of Lies is also gritty and snarky. Can't wait for the next one!

I like that Estep doesn't make Gin all angsty, but instead matter-of-fact about being an assassin.
