Review: 75. Bloodshot by Cherie Priest...

I added Bloodshot to my TBR list as soon as I saw the cover. Never underestimate the power of a cover, people! But I digress...

Raylene Pendle is a thief--and a very good one at that. She's also a vampire who doesn't like hanging out with other vamps. When she's asked to recover some government documents, she hesitates because the client is a vamp. A blind one.

She reluctantly agrees, and finds herself mired in more trouble and attention than she's ever wanted and then some. With ghouls, men in black, street kids, anonymous internet acquaintances, and transvestites all hanging with, or following her around, Raylene's circus show is mind-boggling and adrenaline-pumping.

The characters are cool. The dialog is snappy, witty, and grin-tugging humorous. The plot moves. And the story will capture your attention and hold it until all the bad guys have been identified (if not eliminated) and the good guys get to save the day. Or do they?

Have you read Bloodshot? What did you think? I'm also not quite sure what to tag this as, so I stuck with the default urban fantasy--it's vamps and ghouls, and takes place in Seattle, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. What else would you tag it with?

    I've read Bloodshot and thought is was good, but nothing about it really wowed me or made me want to continue with the series. I had mixed feelings about it. I thought it was fast-paced and I liked Raylene & Adrian quite a lot (their interactions were fun), but I thought the mystery plot line regarding the secret government experiment was rather underdeveloped & dull. I also thought that Ian was a total snoozefest.

    P.S. I think it fits appropriately under the Urban Fantasy category

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Marg! For me, the snappy stuff ranks higher than the snoozy Ian. I'm hoping for more from him. We'll see. :)

    Hey drey,
    This book sounds so tempting but I am a little vamped out at the moment. As Merit says,"I need a little break from vampire drama." I think I will continue to read The Dresden files so I will be ready to read Ghost Story when it hits b&n in July. First comes Changes, hopefully I can time it just right with the ending of Changes and the start of Ghost Story with no gap in between. That would really help any cliffhanger woes I might run into. Wish me luck my friend. I am off to start reading Small Favor.
