It's my blogoversary!! Time to celebrate!!

November 23, 2009
OMG. I cannot believe it. ONE whole year! 200+ books. 100 giveaways. 13 interviews. 20 guest posts. 159 authors. Almost 400 followers on Google Friend Connect. 600+ subscribers on FeedBurner. Ok, so I'm slacking on the interviews... I'll have to do something about that!

I'm honored and touched that you think it worth your time to swing by and read my posts. I appreciate that you stop by, and I hope you keep doing it! *grin*

To celebrate this first year mark, I've got a few questions, and a--what else?--giveaway or two for you...

First, to make you work...

I am thinking of slowing down a bit on things here, especially the reviews. Posting daily on weekdays is a huge commitment, and I've been neglecting other things. If I can get to 3 reviews a week, I think I'll be happy. But will you? Anyway, if I slow down on my reading, I will need to focus a bit more on the genres I read. Which brings up the question--are you here for the reviews? If so, which genres do you read my reviews for? If you're not here for the reviews, then is it the giveaways? And if so, which ones?

Now are you ready to find out what the giveaway is? There are two. One starts today, so check out the drey's blogoversary: Day 1 giveaway post!

For the second giveaway, I'm borrowing the "carousel" method I saw at Dan's Journal...
There will be three books listed each day. One book will be selected, and the other two will be carried over to the next day with a new book added, until all 9 books are given away.

This one will run tomorrow through December 4th, on the weekdays only!! Please be aware that there will be books added to the carousel on Thanksgiving Day, and the day after Thanksgiving, so don't eat too much turkey and forget to come by! *grin*

A huge heartfelt THANK YOU to the folks at Pocket Book, Hachette Book Group, and Sourcebooks, for providing books for the carousel. I have had such a great time working with all of you this year, and I hope you feel the same way too!

3 reviews a week seems acceptable :) I know sometimes I don't get to my favorite blogs every day and when I do catch up it can be a bit overwhelming!

I like to visit your blog for the reviews of books I have already read & on new topics... You have spotlighted quite a few books that I would not have noticed otherwise.

Congratulations! and Happy Turkey Day!

I really enjoy your blog. I don't read a lot of the same things you do, so I enjoy your reviews - I feel like I'm keeping up with the genres I don't read. Here's to another great year of blogging.

Awww, thanks, you guys! I seem to read a mish-mash of books, don't I? I think I've read way more romance books this year than I have in the last 15 years of my life... And they're quite enjoyable, so I'm not complaining... But it is one of the genres I'm thinking of dropping, so I can focus more on urban fantasy, which I really like...

Happy blogiversary! You need to do what works for you and your life - we'll be here no matter what. I read your blog for your reviews - they're short and sweet and oh, so good!

Well, I went backwards and did the other comments before seeing this so now I know how long..a year? I can't believe it as I said..but I think if 3 a week makes your life easier, do it! I know when I get time to come around, as you see, I will read the current one and then go back a day or so to catch up. I like all you do and think you should be flexible..do 3 and if you feel like more or less, we will still all be here..trust me! As for the "carousel" method I am too dense to understand but think it must be good if you are doing it. I will really try to stop by daily this week!

Happy Blogiversary!!
I visit your blog daily,I really enjoy your reviews and contests.
I agree with the others,if going down to 3 days a week is better for you then that is what you should do.

I come for the reviews - read the first line on my dashboard and if it looks interesting head on over. Always a bonus if it looks interesting and there's a chance to win it of course. Happy Blogaversary, and congratulations on such a successful blog.

I try to stop by often to read your reviews and check out your fun giveaways. I can see how daily reviews are a really big commitment. I'm sure people will still follow even if you cut down!

I enjoy reading your blog and your reviews (the giveaways are just an added bonus!) I think you should review whatever genre of books you enjoy reading! Congrats on your blogoversary! :)

Hi Drey Happy Blogoversary!!! You can run your blog anyway you see fit. I like Sci-Fi and Fantasy mostly with a good dose of Urban Fantasy mixed in. However Chick Lit is not my bag of chips. I drop by your blog everyday to see what is new in books and to see what my friend has to say today. Giveaways are a plus but not the main reason I stop by. I will tip my glass to you if you decide to slow down your reading of books and the things you do on your blog. I will say WAY TO GO DREY!! BUT NOT WITHOUT A GOOD BELLY LAUGH FIRST!!

Take care my friend!! All the best in the next year!!!

You guys are the best, you know that? Thank you for being so understanding! I just really wanted to pick up some of my other "hobbies" again, like doing puzzles, or making jewelry, or messing with Play-Doh with the little man (who's not going to be little for very much longer)... =) I can't not read, though, so there'll always be books on this blog.

Happy Blogoversary!

I try to visit everyday, but like everyone else, life gets in the way sometimes. Then I don't always have time to catch up on everything I might have missed. Blogs like yours helps me broaden my reading horizons by exposing me to books I might not other wise consider. But I totally understand your need to reduce the number of reviews/giveaways you post and 3 per week sounds reasonable to me. Personally, I don't know how you read so many books. If I tried to read a book-a-day, nothing else would get done! I don't know how you do it all. You are SUPERWOMAN!

Happy Blogoversary! Seriously, 200+ reviews is wonderful! I don't think cutting down to 3 reviews would be bad at all. :D

Congratulations on your year blogoversary! Fantastic! I think posting on a blog is supposed to be something you enjoy. If you run yourself ragged to post and neglect things you really need to do, this is going to stop being enjoyable. I would rather read your post 3x a week or even 2 then not have you here at all!
Do what you need to do and we'll watch for you!
Congratulations!
~ Amy

Woo hoo on the blogoversary! Can't believe you have only been around for 1 year. I think 3 reviews a week is good. I know what you mean about posting daily. It's tough with life going on.

I'm here mostly for the reviews. My tastes go across the board so it's hard for me to pick. Good luck!
