24. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick...

February 22, 2010
FTC Disclosure: My copy of Hush, Hush swung by for a second visit from my local library before I got around to reading it. I am an IndieBound and Amazon affiliate, and any purchases made by clicking on the cover or the links provided may result in monetary compensation.

hush hushAbout the book:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

drey's thoughts:
I'd brought Hush, Hush home from the library before, but didn't quite get around to reading it. So it went back, and then came to visit again. And this time I did get it read! =)

Nora is a gutsy girl. I wouldn't want to live in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, all by myself, in a place that gets foggy more often than not. Like, um, creepy! Vee, her best friend, is just plain annoying. The contrast between Patch and Elliot in the beginning--the one dark and mysterious, the other blond and friendly--was a pretty predictable contrast to their true selves. Add in one career counselor who seems to know more than normal, and you get a nice mix of good, bad, and crazy in this offering from Becca Fitzpatrick.

I'm with you - no old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere for me. This book might be too creepy for me.
