Mine's Octavia Butler, too. I haven't read a lot by African American authors (I've read quite a bit by African Canadian authors, though).

My favorite is Toni Morrison - Her Paradise is really great. And for fun reads, you can't beat Terry McMillan. Her Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back are pure entertainment.

My favorite author at this time is Jacqueline Thomas. She writes christian fiction. She is my favorite because her books are very easy to read with real life characters and as she said - they all have a redeeming quality at the end. And, I really need some positivity in my life! This is my first Blog post! I've arrived.

What a fabulous set of books to give away. Looking through the books I've read, I don't read many African American authors. Loved Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie when Iread her but she's Nigerian. Do have Zora Neal Hurston coming up in book club and I'm looking forward to that.

Mine would be Alex Haley - I loved Roots! But I also have to mention Toni Morrison, Harriet Tubman and Alice Walker.
