150. Tidings of Great Boys by Shelley Adina...

September 8, 2009
tidings of great boysAbout the book:
Finals week is approaching and Mac is still undecided on where to spend the holidays. Normally she'd go home to Scotland, but spending two weeks alone in the castle with her dad isn't as appealing as it used to be. So she invites Carly, Lissa, Gillian, and Shani to join her for the holidays!

Mac is determined to make this the best Christmas ever. She even decides to organize the traditional Hogmany dance for New Year's Eve. If she can get her mother involved in the dance, maybe her parents will finally get back together.

But when Mac and the girls arrive in Scotland, they are faced with bad news: the castle is falling apart and Mac's parents are struggling financially. Not only that, but Shani is in big trouble with Prince Rashid's royal family. Can the girls find a way to celebrate the holidays, get Mac's parents back together, save the castle, and rescue Shani from her relentless pursuers? There's only one way to find out. . . .

drey's thoughts:
It Christmas time! And Mac has to figure out how to spend Christmas with her new posse, without totally dissing her friends from back home. So... she invites the girls to spend Christmas with her. Problem solved!

Only thing is, it's not. For one thing, the group she left behind aren't so welcoming to her new friends. And the huge-castle-is-a-money-pit issue rears its head, but her father doesn't want to talk about it. And she's trying to single-handedly organize a humongous New Year's Eve party.

And this wouldn't be a girly book--a teen girly book at that--if there weren't boys involved. Relationships and friendships are filtered through, and the girls realize that they can get through anything if they're strong and stay true to their friends.

75. All About Us #4: Who Made You a Princess? by Shelley Adina...

May 16, 2009
This is my first All About Us novel, & I wasn't sure whether it would be easy to pick up without having read any of the others. Rest assured, this is easy enough to read as a stand-alone.

Shani Amira Marjorie Hanna is back at Spencer Academy with her friends, and a new boy to drool over. Adding excitement to the student body at Spencer is Prince Rashid al Amir, who gets fawned over by everyone but somehow only wants to hang with Shani.

When Shani finds out that she is the Prince's intended, she is confused and angry. Who has their marriages arranged in this day & age anyway? How could her parents do this to her? And after learning of the history between hers & the prince's family, Shani has to decide whether she can & will become Rashid's princess, or if she can stand up for her own choices.

This was a quick and easy read.  The plotline was predictable and the girls a little overly bratty, in my opinion.. But hey, summer's coming up, and this is a perfect beach read.
