Giveaway: Testimony by Anita Shreve...

May 13, 2009
Are y'all ready for this one? =) I have five copies of Anita Shreve's newly-released-in-paperback Testimony, available for you courtesy of Hachette Book Group.  Read my review here.

About the book:
At a New England boarding school, a sex scandal is about to break. Even more shocking than the sexual acts themselves is the fact that they were caught on videotape. A Pandora's box of revelations, the tape triggers a chorus of voices--those of the men, women, teenagers, and parents involved in the scandal--that details the ways in which lives can be derailed or destroyed in one foolish moment.

Writing with a pace and intensity surpassing even her own greatest work, Anita Shreve delivers in TESTIMONY a gripping emotional drama with the impact of a thriller. No one more compellingly explores the dark impulses that sway the lives of seeming innocents, the needs and fears that drive ordinary men and women into intolerable dilemmas, and the ways in which our best intentions can lead to our worst transgressions.

Rules:
Enter to win a copy if you live in the U.S. & Canada, & have something other than a P.O. Box address! How? Comment & dish on something from school - good, bad, or ugly. As always, +1 entry for followers, +2 for sharing (come back to let me know what you did & where!)...

This all ends at 6:00 p.m. on May 24th! Winners will be posted soon after.  Can't wait? Click on the cover to get your own copy from Amazon!

I will always remember the awful food at school! Both at high school and college. And you'd think it would have been better at college with what it cost!! :)

In school, I hung out with what were called the "stoners" in school, but got along with all the different "clicks" in school. I was a good kid, liked by my teachers, and even when I would be sent up to the Dean for smoking or skipping class, they all knew that I was really a good, polite kid, and they never seemed worried about me. I don't have any really horrible memories of high school. I tend to prefer focusing on the positive, so I have blurred the memories of the bad stuff. The memories are there, but they just don't seem really that "bad".

I hung out with the jocks in high school - don't really have bad memories. I loved college - really came into my own and enjoyed it at UT.

This is on my TBR list.

I went to a huge HS. Split shifts, so I only went half a day. I didnt like it much. I was an athlete, knew tons of kids, but was still lonely. Teenage years are tough!

The worst is the pictures of the ensembles I wore to school in the 80's. I asked my mom why she let me leave the house in neon colors, teased hair, big purple glasses and orange shoes, and she said I dressed myself. Yikes!

Love Shreve, but I haven't read this one yet, so I'd love to have a copy.
My freshman year of high school I lost about 10 pounds becuase I was too scared to go in the lunchroom and eat. I was sooo glad when I graduated.

Loved Eden Close and am a fan! I went to a sort of boarding school and there were scandals, indeed...but I'm sure they were tame compared to the book. Lots of sneaking out to meet boys etc, but nothing *too* wild. Please enter me to win a copy! Thanks.

I remember going on band trips though for some reason we didn't really play any music on them. I think we would have an hour long session with some music professor and that was it. It was just a nice excuse to go somewhere.

Hmm do you have any idea how long it's been since I've been in school (winks). Ok, how about this one...I got my first D in any class ever. I was an honor roll student. The D came from a cruel Spanish teacher that couldn't grasp the fact with my hearing disability (I wasn't deaf yet) I had a problem with accents and saying the words properly. I could write and do the school work easily enough. However she wanted to pass us on how well we could speak the language. She was strange in itself always wearing a poncho to class.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Oh, and I'm also a follower. Thanks! Indigo

I went to boarding school ages ago - it was rigorous and tough especially since I'd come from overseas. I made amazing friends though, and that part of it was worth everything else.

I was one of the "good kids" who took full advantage of it - often skipping classes to go pick up lunches for me and my friends (and sometimes a teacher who saw me leave) because everyone trusted me...foolish people!

I remember in Grade 6 I joined a group of girls that made fun of a girl who had a large nose. It was horrible, someone measured it with a ruler.
That's when I stopped it and have tried to speak up ever since.

Hi Drey,

Just wanted to give a heads up and ask not to be put in the drawing after all. I just won the book from someone else. Thanks for the chance anyway. (Hugs)Indigo

High school for me was a bad time. Every girl friend I made turned against me, because I wouldn't go along with their teasing and making fun of people. So I preferred to be a loner rather than become like them. Thanks for having this giveaway.
