Sarah Walters, the narrator of GIRLS IN TRUCKS, is a reluctant Camellia Society debutante. She has always felt ill-fitted to the rococo ways of Southern womanhood and family, and is anxious to shake the bonds of her youth. Still, she follows the traditional path laid out for her. This is Charleston, and in this beautiful, dark, segregated town, established rules and manners mean everything.
But as Sarah grows older, she finds that her Camellia lessons fail her, particularly as she goes to college, moves North, and navigates love and life in New York. There, Sarah and her group of displaced deb sisters try to define themselves within the realities of modern life. Heartbreak, addiction, disappointing jobs and death fail to live up to the hazy, happy future promised to them by their Camellia mothers and sisters.
When some unexpected bumps in the road--an unplanned birth, a family death--lead Sarah back home, she's forced to take another long look at the fading empire of her youth. It takes a strange turn of events to finally ground Sarah enough to make some serious choices. And only then does she realize that as much as she tried to deny it, where she comes from will always affect where she ends up. The motto of her girlhood cotillion society, "Once a Camellia, always a Camellia," may turn out to have more wisdom and pull to it than she ever could have guessed.

Please enter me in your contest Drey. I think that I prefer a small SUV. My previous vehicle was a Jeep and I loved it. I currently drive a Ford 500, which does sit higher than most cars, but I sure miss my Jeep at times.

I perfer mid-sized cars I guess since thats what I drive. I'm really short so I dont like driving big vehicles since I can't see out of them haha! Although I dont like really tiny cars since I feel closed in to much. Thanks for the chance to read this book.
my car is an itty bitty saturn and I love it because it is perfect for just me and small is great for living in the city. but somehow I have always had a picture in my head of me driving a pick up truck because I grew up in the country and learned to drive in a pick up truck

I think that people should try to drive smaller cars if their lifestyle supports it. Me? I love my Jeep Cherokee! I live in hurricane country and have a lot of animals. I need to be able to pack everything in and hit the road if necessary. The Jeep is big enough to fit most things, yet small enough to not be excessive for just a single woman living in suburbia. Plus, if I ever get a kayak, I can strap it to the top.

I've driven them all in the last few years. A red Mitsibishi Ecplise - fun, but sat so low everones headlights hit me in the eyes. A huge Ford F250 tuck - great for hauling things but a killer to park. Now I drive a lovely, small SUV - a Subaru Forester. It's great for hauling camping gear and long legged step sons, decent gas mileage and sits up high enough but not too high. I have a bicycle, but it's difficult to use for regular transportation.
I'd love to be entered in your contest. My family runs the game from a Mitsubishi Montero SUV, a mid-sized Dodge car and a sporty Mitsubishi Eclipse - so we have 3 sized vehicles. I prefer the mid sized car.

I like a sporty car but sometimes you need a 4x4. That's why I drive a red Monte and hubby has a pickup.

We prefer medium sized SUVs. While a car would be nice, we wouldn't be able to haul half the stuff we do.
I'd love to read this book. Please enter me. I follow your blog via Blogger's follow function.
Thanks.
I'd prefer a smaller car that is more fuel efficient. It would look really cute too!
We are SUV people all the way. We travel a lot and work out of motels across the state so we love our smaller SUV a Hyundai Tucson.

Like many people leading "green" lifestyles, I prefer smaller cars that get good gas mileage. For example, I think the SmartCar is a great idea - it is popular in Europe and runs completely on battery power. Sure, it is small so you do not have that much room, but it is much easier to find parking spots!
Thanks for the giveaway :)

I have a compact car right now and would love to go smaller with a SmartCar for my next car. Even compacts are great for tiny parking spaces at the mall! So, itty bitty cars for me.

As long as I'm dreaming of a car it would be a Cadillac Escalade. I would love a bright pink one. I'm going for comfort. In my dream world the gas is cheap and this would'nt damage the environment.
makeupgirl21@comcast.net
Would love to read this book, please enter me in the drawing. Thanks!
I PREFER a small hybrid vehicle to save on gas and help the environment, but with two kids and all their "stuff" I drive a large SUV because a small vehicle won't hold everything.
hlbsurfin(at)gmail(dot)com
I have a Buick LeSabre right now, but, my dream car would be a subaru suv... something easy on gas, easy on the eyes, easy to pack... just easier than a big family size since some of the family has flown the coop ... so to say.
Thanks debbebennett at yahoo dot com
I really want to read this book!!!
I'm gonna go w/ a Hybrid Escalade...
I am a small to medium car person. It is about all I can maneuver these days. I did co-own a Chevy truck at one times; worked up some muscles with that shift stick. Hmmm, that was when I was living in the South...

Book sounds great. I love books about the south. Please enter me. I prefer a small pickup truck. Better gas mileage. Thanks for having this giveaway.

I'd prefer mid-sized sedans, because that's the only thing I've driven so far. I sometimes joke that I want a huge SUV so I can block the view of the cars behind me while I'm driving, but I just jest.
I'm going to follow this blog after I finish this post.

I prefer convertibles. It has to be medium sized though, I don't like them too small or too big because then they look too weird to me. Perfect when it is hot and cold.
