Giveaway - 84. Obama's Blackberry by Kasper Hausner...

June 3, 2009
Another fab contest from the folks at Hachette!

About the book:
When Obama stated that if elected, he would keep his Blackberry, debate echoed through Washington and among the ranks of the Secret Service. What would it be like to have a president who could Twitter, send text messages, and navigate the web with ease? What would it be like to receive a text message from inside the Oval Office and, most importantly, what would it say?

Now, for the first time, We The People are privy to our new leader's epistolary back-and-forths on his wily hand-held device. We're about to discover that his emails (and the replies, from his wife and daughters, Biden, Palen, Rush, Hannity, the new first puppy, and even Bush) are so tuned in to the language of electronic correspondence they come hilariously close to the brink of legibility.

This giftable, imagined glimpse into Obama's beloved Blackberry traverses the mundane and momentous contours of the Commander in Chief's life, from security briefings to spam, basketball practice to domestic bliss, and the panic of oops-I-hit-reply-all, to, of course, the trauma of dealing with the First Mother In Law.

To wit:
BidenMyTime: Hey U, whatcha doin?
BARACKO: M rly busy
BidenMyTime: Right :( Can I lv at 4:45?

drey's thoughts:
Obama's Blackberry is sassy and fun. It had me cracking up in places, but also elicited the occasional "eh"... One of my favorites is where BarackO tells the White House Grounds & Maintenance that he wants to mow the lawn, eventually giving it up when it turns into a bullet-proof-glass-covered, secret-service-sidecar'd, gun-mounted lawnmower. Yeah, Mr. President. Sure you can mow the lawn. Obama's Blackberry is short (137 itty-bitty pages) and entertaining. Read on for how you can get your own copy!

The nitty-gritty:
This giveaway is open to residents of the US and Canada only (no P.O. Boxes, please). To enter, leave a comment & share whether you're involved (or want to be involved) in politics? Or is it all just a bunch of hogwash? =P As always, +1 for following, +2 for sharing (remember to come back & tell me what/where - I'm so NOT psychic!), and leave me a way to get a hold of you... This round of Hachette goodness ends 6:00 pm CST June 16th! Good luck!

I'm not involved in politics. I'd be interested in joininga League of Women Voters, but we don't have one here. I'm very bipartisan. I do work at the polls every election and I love it.

I'm not involved in politics at all; don't want to be but sometimes wish I could step in and give politicians a reality check!

I'm so not into politics. It's just not worth it - the system is corrupt and always will be.

I'm not involved in politics but I did follow this last election closer than any other and had a great deal of interest in it.

Personally, I'm not real involved in politics -- just enough to figure out who or what to vote for. Professionally, on the other hand, as a journalist, I have to be involved enough to write about those people and issues on the ballot.

I use to be very active in the League of Women Voters -- still follow their info. Unfortunately politics are necessary for our world to run, whether it be national, that we moan and groan about, or more locally afecting our very way of life, such as the school board determining how our children will be taught, city/county deciding which roads will be repaved, to where the stop lights are between us and where we want to go. It is really is a very important part of our existance.

Yes -- I follow

I'm very politically opinionated, but stay out of it for the most part. I'm one of those people who feels like we'd be better off with a little more moderation.

I'm not involved in politics nor do I want to be. It ends up being a bunch of hogwash but I don't think that's the intention. I think most of our elected officials really do believe that they can keep their campaign promises and then find out they really don't have all the power they think they do. I do vote though and think if you don't, you have no right to complain.

I'm not involved in politics all that much. But ever since I turned 18, I've decided to do some voting, and that's about as political as I've been. I wish that everyone in politics just cared about the next person as much as themselves.

I follow.

I posted the link on my sidebar.

Hey Drey- well as a Canadian my politics are a bit different from yours. But yes I do vote, follow and have worked at local elections. I'm entering this contest for my American son in law - who is a big Obama supporter.

Great giveaway.
