Blog tips: The scrolling blog roll...

September 1, 2009
If you've explored 'round here today, you might have noticed one teensy change... My blog roll is now in a scrolling list. I was trying (emphasize "try") to catch up on my Google Reader when I saw a Book Blogger Tips & Tricks post from Vanessa at Today's Adventure. There was a link to Melissa's Bookshelf that I followed, and lo and behold, about halfway down the May 17th post, I see "HOW DO I CREATE A SCROLLING BLOGROLL IN BLOGGER?"...

So... What do you think I did? Read it, of course. And followed the link to Just Another Pixel for the actual instructions. Pretty simple, really. I needed to follow the addition in the 10th comment, to make the left-side text show up. But it took all of 5 minutes. From link to scrolling blog roll. Give it a whirl!

I love the scrolling blog roll but can't figure out how to do it in wordpress, so I made a separate page for mine.

It looks really good. No time this week, but I'll be back to think some more about this.

I wish that the scrolling list lets me keep the "detail" stuff, like title of most recent post, etc. Instead I sorted by most recent update, but the unalphabetized list is bugging me...

I am completely loving it and I am going to try and do the same thing on my blog! Yeah, I know, I'm a copy cat like that :)

lilly ~ "copy" away! I'm glad I thought to post about this. I need to go back & re-figure out how I did the 3-column thing, as well as my headers, because someone asked, and I can't remember all the pieces. *sigh*

i'm glad you liked the trick i posted. i read the comments here & i actually tried leaving all the details like thumbnails of most recent post, etc on the scrolling blogroll but it doesn't seem to work well. but i'll try to see if i can find a way to fix that.

We appreciate all your work, blankPixels! Lord knows, I'm certainly not patient enough to figure this out on my own, lol!!
