I bided my time before picking up BoneMan's Daughters by Ted Dekker. If for nothing else than to be able to wait a little to post the review. I managed to wait a month. I'm quite proud of that, actually - patience is not one of my virtues...
The BoneMan of the title is a serial killer who breaks the bones of his victims. Carefully. Meticulously. He's taken seven daughters, and killed them all when they're not worthy enough, not strong enough, for his love. Now he's found another daughter, and this one will be perfect.
Ryan Evans is a Naval intelligence officer, one who's very very good at his job - so much so that he's rarely home. But he doesn't let that deter his determination in keeping his family, and his country, safe. Until he's ambushed, kidnapped, and tortured. He comes home to tell his family that he finally realizes how much he loves them, misses them, how sorry he is for having not been there for so long. Only to face the uncomfortable truth that they've moved on.
Ted Dekker skillfully weaves a suspenseful story around these two men. The one playing with the other like a cat with a mouse. The other, alternating between despair and anguish, trying desperately to save his daughter from being the eighth BoneMan victim. I read this in one sitting. And then had to let it percolate a little. BoneMan's Daughters will be released on April 14th. Get it.

oooh, Drey! I haven't gotten my copy yet and now I wish I hadn't read your review but couldn't stop. Sounds like I will have to find a good long day with lots of time available (is there such a thing?) to make time for it when it comes..thanks for a chilling good review!
I'm really looking forward to this one and hope to get to it soon.
You know you just got done reading a great book when you "have to let it percolate." Great review!
Sounds creepy. Just my style. Hope I can download it to my kindle.
I'll have to come back to your review. I'll be finished with it this afternoon. I just wanted to say that I had a hard time keeping my hands off it too. I wanted to wait till closer to the release date to read and review it. lol. It is soooooo good.
I really enjoyed this - I'm glad it kept your attention :)
