Giveaway - First Family by David Baldacci...

April 21, 2009
Hachette Book Group must love me or something. Or they must love all y'all... Why? Because they're letting me spread the word about David Baldacci's newly-released (like, TODAY) book, First Family, by giving you the opportunity to win your very own copy. There are 3 copies to be had, so enter, and do it now! =)

About the book:
Following the instant #1 New York Times bestseller Simple Genius, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell return in David Baldacci's most heart-pounding thriller to date ...
FIRST FAMILY
It began with what seemed like an ordinary children's birthday party. Friends and family gathered to celebrate. There were balloons and cake, games and gifts.
This party, however, was far from ordinary. It was held at Camp David, the presidential retreat. And it ended with a daring kidnapping ... which immediately turned into a national security nightmare.
Sean King and Michelle Maxwell were not looking to become involved. As former Secret Service agents turned private investigators, they had no reason to be. The FBI doesn't want them interfering. But years ago, Sean King saved the First Lady's husband, then a senator, from political disaster. Now, Sean is the one person the First Lady trusts, and she presses Sean and Michelle into the desperate search to rescue the abducted child.
With Michelle still battling her own demons, and forces aligned on all sides against her and Sean, the two are pushed to the absolute limit. In the race to save an innocent victim, the line between friend and foe will become impossible to define ... or defend.

About the author:
David Baldacci lives with his family in Virginia. He and his wife have founded the Wish You Well Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting literacy efforts across America. He invites you to visit him at www.david-baldacci.com and his foundation at www.wishyouwellfoundation.org, and to look into its program to spread books across America at www.FeedingBodyandMind.com.

Now on to the important (hah!) stuff...
This is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada only, and no P.O. Boxes, please.

For one entry, comment & share a tidbit (or two!) about a First Family - any one of 'em. OR, comment & share another of David Baldacci's books - the title, & did you like it. As usual, +1 for following. +2 for spreading the word. Comment and let me know what/where - I do spot check to keep it fair for everyone...

Giveaway ends at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, so come back after to find out if you've won. Winners will have 3 days to get me their mailing info. Can't wait that long? Click on the cover to purchase from Amazon. Good luck, everyone!

Tidbit: almost everybody hated Lincoln's kids - too wild and overindulged. Lincoln never said no to them.

Another Jimmy Carter comment.
My very 1st drivers license was signed by then Governor of Georgia Jimmy Carter(I've really dated myself) who went on to be elected 39th President of the United States.
Jimmy had a colorful brother named Billy who ran for mayor of Plains Georgia in 1976 but lost the election- however he did gain 15 minutes of fame for Billy Beer and he once urinated on an airport runway in front of the press-perhaps too much Billy beer!

The secret service has "nicknames" they use when referring to members of the first family they are guarding -- Ronald Reagan was "Rawhide" and Nancy "Rainbow". Jimmy Carter was "Deacon" and Rosalynn was "Dancer", daughter Amy was "Dynamo". George Bush (SR) was "Timberwolf" and Barbara was "Tranquility".

My tidbit about a first family is about Abraham
Lincoln! They have his DNA on a the pillow he laid on after being shot. Some scientists think that his height, lumps on his lips, and
gastrointestinal problems were caused by a rare genetic disorder called "Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, Type 2B. If this were the case, he would have been dead from cancer within a year of being shot. Please enter my name in your drawing.
Many thanks.....Cindi
