About the book:
National bestselling author Amanda Scott sweeps readers back to the turbulent fourteenth-century Scottish Borders, where valiant men and women risk everything for their land. Jenny Easdale is ready to accept her fate. She's agreed to marry a man she will never love - yet not before slipping away for one last adventure. Following a traveling minstrel troupe, she's whisked into a world of intoxicating freedom. Then, all too soon, she finds herself in danger - from a vengeful political plot against Scotland and from the man who has come to take her home. Dutybound to return with his brother's wayward bride, Sir High Douglas is not prepared for how her quick wit, courage, and laughing eyes touch his warrior heart. Now, as the merry minstrels play matchmaker and passion sparks between Hugh and Jenny, the conspiracy against Scotland builds...and threatens all they hold dear.

I love the IDEA of Scotland, no idea if I could take the cold season there. And furthermore, based on the historical romances I've read over my lifetime, unless all the guys were Lords of some Clan and running around briefless in a kilt, I just might be disappointed if I went there....
Just saying ~
I'd love to visit Scotland - land of some of my ancestors. But to live there - far away from my loved ones - no, thank you.
I'd love to live in Scotland. There's so much history. Every time I've been there, I didn't want to leave.

I would love to live in Scotland. All the reasons you listed for why you dont want to live there are the reasons I DO want to live there. I hate hot weather, I prefer overcast.

I don't think I like Scotland. I am such a "California Gal" I am between San Francisco and Sacremento. Our summers are HOT, our winters are mild. I am just not the type for extended cold. I might like to visit someday...

I'd love to visit Scotland! It's one place I always said I'd love to visit if I could go anywhere! (My second place to go would be London) I guess those castles in historicals are so interesting. I'd move there too!

I would love to live there if I was younger. Some of my ancestors came from Scotland a long time ago (1709). I've often wondered if my ancestor was a younger brother or if he and his brothers were on the wrong side politically.

I have to agree with you. I'd love to visit but doubt I'd want to live there. Like you, I lived in Wisconsin for 20 years (Wausau). I really don't like extreme temperaturs even if the scenery is beautiful.
On the otherhand living there for a couple of years would be ok. I lived in Germany for 2 years. Enough time to get a feel for the place.

I went to Scotland for two days with my daughter in 2000 and absolutely loved Glasgow. The graveyards reminded me of something written by Edgar Allen Poe. I would like to go back again and maybe stay for a month.
Thank you,

I don't think I'd choose Scotland as a place to live because if I lived in the British Isles at all, I would choose Ireland since half of my relatives were from there. Aside from that, I've had enough cold and damp weather where I live now so I'd like a place a bit warmer and drier!
From what I've seen in pictures, it is beautiful country and I would like to visit...but I wouldn't want to live there. Too remote and too cold.
