Twilight is the story of Bella and Edward, two high-school students who meet in Forks, a small town in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. Bella is seventeen, Edward has been seventeen for almost a century.
This is a very well-written love story. You feel Bella's confusion when Edward is antagonistic towards her. You appreciate Edward's attempt to keep away from her. The supporting cast of characters are well-thought out. Except maybe for Rosalie ~ I don't quite get why she is so angry towards Bella.
One thing that bothered me a little about this book - Bella is 17. I know why she wants what she wants from Edward. Or thinks she wants what she wants from Edward. But she's only 17. A person grows and changes with every passing year, with life lived and experienced, with trials and tribulations, and success. With loves won and lost. Is 17 old enough, mature enough, lived enough, to ask what she's asking for? To know what she's asking for? After all, Edward didn't have the same options she has. The same life she could have. Or the ability to choose.
I cannot wait to read New Moon. I'm #177 on the library wait list. *sigh* Somebody please feel free to take pity on me & send me a copy to read... =P
